Four Months Old
Our little boy is growing fast. Kellen is now four months old. I’m thankful to report that everything is back to normal and he’s doing well. It’s a great relief for us to be able to get back to watching him grow and develop.
Kellen now weighs just over 15 lbs. and measures nearly 25 inches, putting him around the 43rd percentile in both categories. We’ve started transitioning him into some of his 6 mo. clothes - the ones that run small, at least. It’s amazing how quickly he’s growing.
While he’s lost a fair amount of his hair, it’s starting to come in thicker and longer. Aimee and I have wondered if his hair would remain blonde like hers or if it would go dark like mine.
Big Talker
We love seeing Kellen smile. He smiles all the time - when we make faces at him, when we tickle him, when we pick him up from daycare - all the time. Now, his adorable smiles are occasionally accompanied by a little giggle. Aimee and I are in a bit of a competition to see who can get the best laugh out of him. He seems like a very happy little 4-month-old.
He’s also started “talking.” He’ll sit on one of our laps or in his car seat and let out a little baby moan over and over again for a few minutes. He’ll also do it in response to our interacting with him. He seems to have quite a lot to talk about.
In addition to giggling and “talking”, both of which we love to hear, he’s also figured out how to scream. Every once in a while, he’ll let out a quick, random scream. It doesn’t seem to correlate to him wanting anything in particular or being upset; it seems like he’s just trying to get our attention or exercise his lungs.
Grabbing This, Grabbing That
Kellen has started to grab and hold things, occassionally trying to put them in his mouth. If he’s not holding onto something, his hands usually end up in his mouth. He’s not at the point that he can hold his own bottle, but it doesn’t seem far off.
Party Time
Kellen had two firsts this month - his first birthday party, for cousins Hayden and McKinley, and his first visit to a splash pad where their party was held. He loves to splash around in the tub at bath time, but he wasn’t sure what to think about the splash pad.
After some time on the splash pad, a trip down the slide with cousin McKinley, and schmoozing with the party guests, he was ready for a nap.
Our Son, The Artist
We were excited to see Kellen’s first piece of artwork, courtesy of his daycare - a footprint caterpillar. While we’re told he didn’t much care for making it, if he turns out anything like his daddy, he’ll have quite the creative streak.
Four-Month Checkup & Shots
Kellen had his four-month checkup and shots on his four-month birthday. I’m happy to report that he’s perfectly healthy and growing and developing just as he should be.
It still blows our minds that we somehow created this amazing little life together.
