Eleven Months Old

March 22, 2015 11 Months Milestones

Here we are… One month from Kellen’s first birthday. While we don’t have much to report this month, it seems like Kellen has grown more in the last couple months than in all the months before. We’re still trying to wrap our heads around him being a year old next month.

Camera Problems?

Normally, after I’ve selected the photos to include in a new post, I evaluate each photo and decide if I want to display it in black-and-white or color. I usually go for a mixture of both, but for this post, all the photos ended up in black-and-white. I suppose that’s the way the cookie crumbles. Enjoy…

Our Little Foodie

Kellen continues to expand his culinary horizons. We try to sit down and have dinner as a family a couple times a week, giving him scraps of whatever we’ve prepared for ourselves. He seems to enjoy it. Either way, he’s now eating a bit of people food every day.

Buddies

Kellen has really taken to our dogs, Bailey and Buster, and they seem to have taken to him as well. They weren’t sure what to make of him (and he them) for a while, but now they’ll sit next to him, bring him toys, and lick his hands, especially Buster (below-right). Kellen will reach out to them as well, petting them and only occasionally tugging on their ears.

Mobile Non-Crawler

While Kellen still has yet to crawl in the traditional sense, he can still get from one area of the room to another if he’s determined enough. Overall, he’s pretty mobile, rolling, scooting, and slithering about. We think when he does start crawling, he’ll do it for a day or two, then get up and take off running.

He’s also gotten very good at waving hello and goodbye. I challenge anyone not to grin ear to ear when he waves at them.

Out & About

With the weather improving, we’ve been spending quite a bit more time with Kellen outdoors. We regularly take him for walks (in his stroller) around the neighborhood and to the local park. He seems to enjoy taking it all in, and really likes the swings. We also took him to our local farmers’ market this past month. We’re hoping by spending time outdoors like this, he’ll come to appreciate being with his family and playing outside and be less interested in TV and what not.

Ma-Ma

I wrote last month that Kellen seemingly called me “da-da.” I’m happy to report that he’s occasionally referring to Aimee as “ma-ma.” He has a couple other word-sounding noises as well. I could swear I heard him say “hi” the other day.

Dirty Feet

And to end, Kellen’s lint-covered feet after a day of wearing black socks. It doesn’t go along with any particular milestone, but we thought it was funny when we took his socks off.
