Eighteen Months Old
Our little toddler is now a year-and-a-half old. He’s not a baby anymore, which we’ve found both exciting and a little sad, but it continues to amaze us to watch him grow.
Stay-At-Home Mom, Continued
Aimee continues to work as a stay-at-home mom, which is working fantastically for us. At this point, we haven’t set a timeline for her return to work. Personally, I’d love to keep her at home as long as possible. I’m sure she and Kellen would agree, especially with him being such a help around the house. He loves to close doors, turn lights on and off, and, of course, help out with the dogs.
Mr. Independent
Kellen is becoming more and more independent, able to entertain himself for small stretches. Aimee and I love watching him, especially when he doesn’t know we’re watching. It’s amazing to watch him evaluate things and make decisions. Sometimes, we can each see a bit of ourselves in his habits.
Out & About
As Kellen’s gotten a bit older and the weather’s gotten cooler, we’ve started to get outdoors more as a family, going to fairs, festivals, parks, and the like. More than ever, Kellen loves to be outdoors, especially now that he’s a walker.
Since Aimee’s been home, she’s been taking Kellen to various classes and activities. Unfortunately (for me), most of these occur during the week while I’m at work, but I’ve recently started taking a day off periodically so I can join them. One of the first such experiences for me was a Halloween party, complete with costumes, at Kellen’s regular gym. He went as his favorite character, Mickey Mouse. Coincidentally, Minnie Mouse was in attendance as well.
Aunt Tori’s First Babysitting Gig
Aunt Tori—my sister—recently had her first babysitting gig with Kellen. I don’t know if you can call her a babysitter—she’s 22—but nonetheless, she watched him for a few hours while Aimee went to an appointment. Thanks Tori!
18 Month Checkup
Kellen had his 18 month checkup just after his 18 month birthday. He now weighs about 28 lbs. and measures just over 32 inches—a gain of around two lbs. and two inches compared to three months ago. He’s getting taller; his weight and height are around the 91st and 40th percentile, respectively. Overall, Kellen’s development is right on track.
